held
the
week of October 28, 2002.

Sponsored by the Foreign Language Department and
the Language Arts Division,
College of San Mateo
Coordinated by Professor Susan Petit
Free and open to
the public, all events took on the College of San Mateo campus on
Hillsdale Boulevard just west of Highway 92.
We
showed eight films in six different languages
Chinese, French, German and German sign language,
Italian, and Japanese
(all subtitled!),
had speakers and seminars
and open houses in classes,
showed slides,
and provided music for singing and dancing.
And
there was foodpopcorn for the films,
Italian desserts, French pastries, and
cheese, cheese cheese!
Here
is the line of eager cheese tasters!
Professor Susan Petit presented
French cheesesmorbier, roquefort,
brie de Meaux, cantal, chèvre d'or,
and gruyère
and Professor Richard Castillo
brought Spanish onesmahón, manchego,
rocinante tronchón, and urgelia.
All
this was accompanied by French bread and sparkling cider!
Professor
Blanca Candamil taught a little Caribbean dancing
to students "Michel" Legrand and Raphaëlla Nau.

from the Caribbean.
